Hydrotherapy | Ruislip | Advantage Physiotherapy

Specialist hydrotherapy in Ruislip, led by chartered physiotherapists. Aquatic rehabilitation for joint pain, arthritis, post-operative recovery and more.

Move with less pain. Rebuild confidence. Recover in warm water.

Welcome to Ruislip Hydrotherapy, a specialist physiotherapy-led rehabilitation service in a warm therapeutic pool.
Hydrotherapy, also referred to as aquatic therapy, is a specialist form of treatment that uses the therapeutic properties of water to support recovery, reduce pain, and improve movement. Water reduces load through joints, supports movement, and creates a safe environment to exercise when land-based rehab feels difficult.
Whether you are recovering from surgery, struggling with stiffness, or looking for a gentler way to build strength, our hydrotherapy sessions are tailored to you.

We Help With

  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Back and neck pain
  • Knee, hip, ankle and shoulder injuries
  • Post-operative rehabilitation
  • Sports injuries
  • Balance and mobility issues
  • Persistent pain and deconditioning
  • Neurological rehabilitation (where appropriate)

What Is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy (also called aquatic physiotherapy) is physiotherapy treatment carried out in warm water. The properties of water can make movement easier, safer, and more comfortable than exercising on land.

Benefits of Hydrotherapy

Reduced Joint Loading — Buoyancy supports body weight, reducing pressure through painful joints.
Easier Movement — Many people can move further and more comfortably in water.
Strengthening — Water provides natural resistance to build strength safely.
Balance & Confidence — The supportive environment helps improve confidence with walking, balance, and movement.
Pain Relief — Warm water and gentle movement often help reduce pain.

Who Is It Suitable For?

Hydrotherapy may be suitable for:
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Post knee or hip surgery
  • ACL / meniscus rehabilitation
  • Shoulder pain
  • Back pain
  • Chronic pain / fibromyalgia
  • Reduced fitness after injury
  • Balance issues
  • Selected neurological conditions
Every patient is individually assessed before treatment.

I cannot recommend them enough, and especially Alex, who was helping me regain full motion after an ankle fracture. Always smiling, understanding, kind, he knows and enjoys what he is doing. I am more than grateful for his help.
